What exactly is durometer and TPI for maxxis tires?

I'm thinking about getting a set of hirollers or advantages... there is a noticable weight difference so I assume it has to do with the compound. Weight is a factor, but I won't want to flat every time out.

ok, I found it - somehow I missed it the first time.

So, if I understand it correctly, I want a higher TPI (for durability) and a lower durometer rating for a softer tread - I would think a softer tread would be more grippy, but also wear faster. Is that correct?

All last year I ran the 2.1 sized Maxxis tires (High Roller & Mobster) in the eXCeption versions. Good traction & tread life. Casing while thin, was suprizingly durable. Weight was fairly low too.
