The kiwis over at vorb.org.nz have been fans of this one for a while...I have this nagging feeling it's not real, though, and a lot of people put a lot of effort in to have a laugh at our expense (and perhaps do some research on how quickly crap spreads around the net.)

I just emailed the link to Snopes...we'll see if they decide to check it out and ruin everyone's fun...

Actually, I'm pretty sure the website only makes money through advertising.

And I suppose the Rainbow show has to be real...the amazon UK site wouldn't be selling DVDs otherwise...feel kinda silly for emailing snopes now, lol.

It was definatly a real tv program. Not sure if that clip actually went out on the air or not, it could just have been the cast messing about.
I wouldn't be that surprised if it was from an actual episode, the program was pretty camp and lots of kids tv from that era is a little suspect when viewed from an adults perspective.
