Most union jobs I have dealt with you get paid based on the job. You do not get paid on how you perform and do the job. Sounds like the wrong way to go about getting quality work from people.

The people that work harder and do more should make more money. Why should the people that have worked hard and are successful be taxed more? I do not want my money taken and given to others who are not working as hard, and there is no reason it should happen.

Not only that, but when someone is absolutely terrible at their job, to the point of co workers breaking down in tears, the useless worker usually can't be fired.

Welcome to Quebec, the land of insanely powerful unions.

I have serious doubts as to whether people in the upper tax bracket are there as a result of hard work

has this been mentioned yet? a rumor (with pics and video) that purports that Palin's 5th child (the one with Downs syndrome) is actually her granddaughter? it's worth going to the link to review the evidence before dismissing it offhand.

http://www.dailykos.com/story/2008/8/30/121350/137
linkie, along w/ "evidence", no longer available; why'd they take it down you think?

found a google cached page of the above link. unfortunately, it doesn't host the pix (or image shack yanked them). what were they?

curiouser & curiouser, especially when considering so many who claim the mccain camp cannot properly vet. from here, it's looking more like this "story" should be handed over to the nat'l enquirer

the pics were of sarah palin looking decidedly non-pregnant, and the widely circulated photos of the daughter either looking like she had some stomach chub or a bun in the oven.

i think Trig should have been named Tim, especially when considering the Piper reference

Yeah I love it when a News ( Dailykos are they really ) agency , is so hot to be the first to break a story that they get bamboozled and post bogus info.

maybe it's just me, but it seems the left loathes an underaged pregnant girl who won't get an abortion. and wasn't obama's mom pregnant & unwed w/ him when she was 17 also?

nothing to see here...

In 1959 Dunham's parents moved to Hawaii to pursue further business opportunities in the new state. She soon enrolled at the University of Hawaii at Manoa, where she studied anthropology. There she met Barack Obama, Sr., a graduate student from Kenya and the school's first African student, in a Russian class.[2] When they became engaged, both sets of parents opposed the marriage, with Barack, Sr.'s father in particular objecting. Nevertheless, the couple married on February 2, 1961 in Maui, Hawaii.[6][1]

On August 4, 1961, at age 18, she gave birth to her first child whom she named Barack Hussein Obama II.

Oh I dont think that's the case. Im not "the left" but I think it has more to do with the irony of the whole "family values" platform, as they're being touted in the face of obvious fail.

so back-of-the-napkin math tells me she got pregnant when she was 17, assuming a normal length pregnancy;

ed: otherwise it would be 8 months, 1 week if impregnated on her 18th b-day. of course, this is irrelevant, just curious how it will be packaged by the obama campaign. if they play their cards right, they're done speaking on this

and i guess the spin will be that right-to-life is the main thrust of family values, and the fact that sarah & juno didn't abort when they were the #1 & #2 reasons to abort demonstrates their commitment.

just you wait: by friday you'll be hearing about the 2nd coming of the Virgin Bristol. i'm buying an 8-slice toaster & going through loaves just to try & get the right silhouetted image to put on ebay

I can't remember where I read it but both parties have agreed not to use this as political fodder.
Yeah, BS.
Too bad the parties don't control the media, private organizations or free speech. We'll be hearing plenty about this kind of stuff and you can bet your ass one group will benefit somehow.

When Barack was born, you were a prostitute if you were an unwed mother.

45 years later, I don't think anyone cares about Barack's conception date.

As for Palin's daughter, I don't think Barack is going to mention it, but that doesn't mean Democratic PAC's are going to forget about, it doesn't mean Fox News is going to forget about it, it doesn't mean E! Network is going to forget about it.

All I know is that Kerry, who received 3 purple hearts and a silver star, was painted as a coward, and Bush, who served in the Champagne Brigade, was not. I think evil minds can spin this anyway they want.

P.S. I don't care about Palin's daughter's sexual habits or her views on abortion.

I guess you're right, only 80% of millionaires in America are self-made:

"About 80[%] of [the millionaires] are first-generation affluent." That's right. Forget about the myth of old money; most people in this country work hard (and smart) to make their money. One of the major ingredients for success is to use good old "elbow grease."

McCain pulled out of a Larry King interview, because of "tough line of questioning" by Campbell Brown with Tucker last night.

BWAHAHA. LARRY KING. The softest interview in all of cable news.

on balance, he could have been a lot sharper in the beginning; he wasn't exactly doing a "man on the street" interview

NG units deployed overseas are no longer under the command of the state governer...if they were, none of them would be left overseas.
McCains greatest military accomplishment was being shot down over Hanoi. If not for that, he would be working at WalMart today.

Actually, state governors act only in name as CinC of NG units in their state. They are OpOrd and answer to State Adjutant General of the NG.

He actually deserves most of his 'hero' cred for refusing early release from prison camp due to the fact his father was an Admiral. That and the leadership he displayed as senior ranking member of his prisoner unit.

Both really good points that I agree with. On the second one though, I have a hard time understanding how that makes you fit to be president. A 4* general, yes. Secretary of Defense, yes. But the result has been a man that understands only military action as a solution to international problems, and understands only ethics when it comes to domestic problems. Both are fantastic skills and qualities, but I sure as hell don't want someone who doesn't understand diplomacy or economics at the top of the heap when a recession and foreign wars are our two biggest near-term problems right now (followed by education and environment as our major long-term problems, IMO). He's a specialist, and should be in a specialized position.

No doubt. Wasn't using that for an endorsement, just making the point that the respect he deserves for being a POW isn't a punctuation of the fact he got shot down and that in itself is a failure. He endured a lot of pain and suffering for 5 years and I respect him for that.

Doesn't mean I want him for President. His life experience is in a sense just as limited as Obama's and Palin's. He graduated college, spent time in the military, came home, ran for office and has been entrenched in the nether world fantasy land inside the beltway for the past 2 decades.

Dont get me wrong, McC lived through some horrible sh!t, and I too admire and give him rep points for that.
BUT, prior to and after that his military record is somewhat spotty, not exactly a Dwight David Eisenhower...

Guess I missed with the Wal mart joke.
