so i bought a pair of used '02 i believe north shore 5 bolt cranks. I was wondering how i can tell/measure the bolt diameter size of the chainring spider cause i am replacing the chainring with a 42t. I brought it to my local bike store and surprisingly they couldn't find the diameter of the spider. I'm assuming it's a 94mm or a 110mm. Does anyone know a good way to measure the diameter? Where do i start measuring on the spider to get the correct measurement? i dun wanna end up buying the wrong chainring/bash guard size so any help would be really appreciated. thanx

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
most good shops can bust out one of their distributers catologs and they typicly have a little guide in there that you place your old chainring on and line it up bada bing you got your size, or just line yours up against the new ones.

A good way to know is to say what tooth count the rings are. Quality catalogs have a BCD pattern to use.
