Hundreds of mountain bikers have been descending - literally - on the French-administered island of Reunion, located in the Indian Ocean. They've been competing in an event known as Mega-Avalanche, billed as one of the most extreme sporting challenges in the world.

Among the competitors were the French Olympic champion Julien Absalon and hundreds of islanders. BBC correspondent Jon Kay watched the 35km downhill event from the star

What so special about it? Avalanche on Reunion island has been a part of Mega Trophy for years... Some Monkeys take part in this and other Mega events.

We use to have one Megavalanche in Peru but they left our country Anyways they left hundreds of new downhillers in the Sacred Valley and Cusco...
