I stepped on the scale this morning thinking I’d be especially plump, but instead it said I’m only the usual. Still going to go low-ish carb for a bit. Hard to stick to that with small kids and their diets.

It's not that bad. If my sugar loving self can, you can. Just up and do it.

Work. FTS. Its so friggin' busy here right now, but we've a team leader who sits at a building with 30 users, versus myself who sits alone looking after two buildings and 150+ users. Where's the freakin' shared work load here. Balls I tell ya, balls.

Slow early morning at the casino. Putting in for 4-10hr shifts so I can have a 3-day weekend every week. And it snowed for us yesterday in Tahoe!!

Wife just said dogs will need to be fed when I get home. Hope the house isn't too torn up when I arrive......

Today was a ride too far which rewarded me with a bonk of epic proportions.
Now to plant trees for wife and relocate 2000# of scaffolding in the yard so that she can plant a veggie garden.
BBQ at in-laws then draining all remaining beers to prepare for week will round out the day.

'Morning. Star Wars marathon on TNT makes for some good background noise while I putter about the house. I went for a mile swim at the local swimming hole this morning, It was cold but not too bad. I also got my hilly bike ride in. 2200' over 33 miles, so hilly enough. 17.3 mph. Solid ride. I got done with that and went for a 4 mile brick run just because. Exercise!

Little bit of work this morning, then re-sorted my gear explosion from yesterday’s ski adventure, then had a beer and went for a short ride. Sitting at the bar at a restaurant in Salida and this kid next me is talking some garbage about “after I do like one ride in moab, I’m like okay I’m done riding here”... WTF?

But you know, the Pliney I’m drinking is keeping me pretty happy otherwise.

ride towards the light Eric. Ride towards the light

Wifeys dad has been in the cardiac ICU for two weeks now. Some kind of mystery infection that they couldn’t pinpoint...finally today they thought to check the pacemaker location that they put in three weeks ago.
Duh?

Stopped by @stoney 's house to dodge the rain a bit. Kids rebelled and stated they wouldn't eat what he was grilling. Therefore we bid him adieu and went to our Thai joint instead.

I've not ridden there specifically, but at a glance in that rough area I've ridden both the Tanasi trails and Raccoon Mtn a couple of times and used to hit Monte Sano fairly regularly on work trips. Then also raced the Cohutta 100 and Fools Gold 100 a few years back too.

It's rare that I race any more, I do miss doing the hundred milers though and wouldn't complain if we did a trip east to hit a few of those spots again.

You ever get that 'social hangover' feeling? Where you've just done too much social interacting in to short a time period? In the last 72 hours, we have spent 18 hours in social events - today's BBQ, a 40th bday party, and neighborhood hanging out. It's always great fun and I enjoy it while we are doing it, but I'm mentally fried.

Having the toddler really changes the game with these activities. With Haley we can send her off on her way with all the other 5-9 year olds. With Hannah we have to constantly pay attention to where she is, are the gates closed, is she hungry, etc. We have other friends with kids in the 1-4 range, but when the core neighborhood group is 5-9, it is fucking exhausting having the only toddler - as occurred when another friend left around the same time as Toshi.

Large social circle vs. core friends, I guess would be a good way to describe it. Some people you can hang out with forever and not realize it. Others, not so much. The birthday party was definitely of the latter and the most wearing. Today was just a lot of groups and trying to integrate distinctly different groups is wearing.

Little things to remember for introducing people, like one of the wives is the psych at @Toshi's girls elementary school (assuming they go to where I think they will). One of the guys I work with went to Ohio State, as did one of the friends from Haley's school moms. Another guy from work went to HS with a neighbor and also was being introduced to other work people from different groups. Lots of work for large parties when integrating (to some aspect) social groups.

Wearing is all. And on that note, off to sleep.
