He worked hard for that money, and he deserves it. I guess if you don't like it when other people work for their money and get compensated fairly, then you should go work at a union job or go to China you communist.

Thain is the captain directing the Merill ship through rough seas. If the ship takes some minor damage, you don't blame the captain, you thank the captain for his daring leadership and his ability to get the ship past the worst relatively unharmed.

Wasn't like that in MY US Navy. If the ship takes a hit, the blame starts at the top. He is a jackass and should not get paid anything, let alone a bonus.

Let the thousands of employees that stand to be laid off in the merger tell you what a fine captain of industry he is.

That's because the Navy isn't run like the free market. The Navy is proof of the inefficiencies of socialism. The navy can't even prevent Somalian piracy.

All you have done is prove my point that the state is inefficient, and that an unregulated free market is the most efficient and objectively best system known to man.

At least make this recession to be a wake up call for the majority of our populations so that my, and others, comming unemployments (I'm in the construction biz...) will be to some good in the end.

I've thought of it quite a few times, that all people that have served don't make the connection of the that all armed forces work after a socialist modell. For anything to work as efficient as possible, it means that everybody have to contribute with what they are most suitable to do, and so that for the result get the best outcome, everybodys input is equally important.

In civilian life, the chain of command also equals the different steps of value, of ones input, and in extention; of a higher human value.

Bull****. The free market got us the resurgence of the robber barons. Send him into the street with a year's median salary and one change of clothes from Goodwill.

hmmm, my experience in the military was that everyone does as little as possible to get by...yup, pretty much like socialism.

The RM Compensation Committee will award you bacon. You will receive your bodyweight in bacon within the next few days, as well as a golden parachute in the amount of 3 bacon tons upon your unconditional departure from RM.
