I was just reading this article about the new Zune mp3 player that microsoft is coming out with. Blah, blah, sounds ok. But, it says that through the zune marketplate, microsoft's version of the itunes music store, you will be able to get a monthly subscription for $15 that will allow you unlimited downloads.

that's a damn good deal. hopefully apple will do that.

If the terms of the subscription are like any of the other subscription services out there so far, your music stops working when you stop paying the subscription.

The new DRM associated with Zune is some of the most restrictive yet released by anyone. In fact, it will add MS DRM to anything that you put on the Zune player, including things you make yourself or download legally off the net (Creative Commons Licensed, etc)

So far, no thanks.

That's what Napster did, and they're up for sale for pretty cheap I hear. I'd rather own my music, thank you.

I guess I should've figured that MS would do something like that. It sounded too good to be true.

I'll stick with bittorrent.
