Who was in, where were you, and what rank were you when you got out/are you currently? I just started to notice a lot of monkeys were.

I'll start. I'm in the Army, stationed at Rose Barracks in Vilseck, Germany. I'm PFC as of the moment.

Yeah, pubic affairs is a righteous gig, isn't it?
Actually it was. If you can think of any "cool military tactic" that you could train for, I've done it, photographed it, and written articles about it. I got trained at the "Defense Information School" just across from NSA where I learned how to write govt. propaganda and move furniture. Ive done training maneuvers with Marine Force Recon, Navy Seals, Australian Special Forces, Thai Spec. forces, the list goes on...
The best part was, If I didnt feel like doing something ****ty, I did stories on Marines who surfed, rode dirtbikes, did Mtn Biking articles. I got sent to conferences everywhere. I got sent to Mardi Gras to cover the MC Band. Basically, if there is a "good job" in any of the military, I had it. :happydance:

So, when did you go to Fort Benning for Basic Airborne Training?

I find it very hard to believe they let you jump without a rating.

"I've done it"

I doubt it.

How can you thump your chest when you don't have one to thump?

I have in fact, strapped on a gunners belt, and stood at the beck edge of a c-130 and photographed recon marines jumping, but no, never got to actually got to jump, although it was an option for me to go if I re-enlisted. No thanks on that :clue:

Army men driving boats???

Damn!! That was back in WW 2!!!

The army has more boats than the navy,
the navy has more planes than the air force,
the air force has more brains than the marines,
the marines ......uh......yeh....o.k.....

(actually all the Marines I know are pretty cool)

dag, the tail of that chopper earns a hearty 'WTF??'

lol...there's a big sign as you exit the loading ramp that says "left turn only". i can only imagine the horror if a hummvee turned right as it drove down the ramp.

BS - i'm not sure about a loop but it is debatebly the fastest bird for 0-200kts off of the runway. there's nothing like a 30' hover to a full on, nose down sprint to 240+mph in just a few seconds :brows:

cool! i just found a vid of what i did as an AO. it was great, i wasn't a crew chief so i didnt have to do it all the time, just a minimum of 4 hours per month to maintain my flight pay. 'twas a good extra billet for an intel guy :D

Front Range, dude...
USAF Security Forces (MP) type guy. Going on 11 years, just sewed on E6...trying to hang on for the full go at 20, but at this point, who knows. If I decide what to be when I grow up, I may punch out. Porn star, dolphin trainer, astronaut, race car driver, whatever.
Been to SWA too many times, Italy, England, just escaped Germany (Where I survived hanging out with legendary PartsBara!), Egypt, all over the US...
Send all the "The AF isnt the military" jokes now. I have to wax my dolphin...

At least you're not a 702.

Yeah, someplace in a box behind my desk. I have a b&w of the LCMs tied up at night under the lights at Samba Du on the dining room table. I'd love to get some of this stuff digitized - hundreds of 35 mm slides of Pusan and its environs. Drunk hogs being carried on bicycles, marine operations, Pusan street scenes in the late 1960s...
