Low pants trips up fleeing Covington teen
Advocate Florida parishes bureau
Published: Jan 25, 2007

COVINGTON — Police caught up with and arrested a 16-year-old youth after his loose-fitting pants slipped down around his legs and forced him to his knees, the Police Department said Wednesday.

Officers spotted the boy Monday afternoon and gave chase, Covington police said.

The 16-year-old, whose name was not released, was wanted in the beating and robbery of a 35-year-old Covington man Nov. 2 and the carjacking and beating with a brick of another man Jan. 14, police said.

The 16-year-old was booked on counts of armed robbery and aggravated battery in the Nov. 2 attack and aggravated battery and carjacking in the Jan. 14 incident.

He also was booked as being a child in need of supervision.

I remember that happened at a DKE party at Tulane. And I remember a Times-Picayune columnist defended those kids.

All I have to say is just print their pictures for future employers to examine.

EDIT: The theme of the Tulane MLK party: Fried Chicken and Watermelon Night.

And why not? My race gets made fun of all of the time by other races.
So who are your white heroes?

It is funny when Dave Chappelle makes fun of MLK, but a whites only party (I assume, I can't look at all the pics while I am work) making fun of MLK is rude at best and outright racist otherwise.

Then I'll make sure to hold it against the next black comic that denounces whitey and MLK in the same set.

By no means do I think that this particular party was in good taste (at all!!!! I actually think that it was pretty tasteless) but in general, people need to get over themselves and all they're whining.

you haven't been on the recieving end of racism, so i don't think you will understand, and it is why 99% of white people(especially in america) will not truly understand racism.

Eh, touchy subject I suppose.

It is downright wrong to do what those people did on a day of remembrance for one of this nations' brightest minds.

This year I noticed for the first time in my life the downright ignorance of my peers (college students and younger) and most americans in general. Do people not have any sense of history? Are these "college" students a reflection of most people in this nation (I think so)? If so, ignorance is bliss...and this is just a way to compensate for their own insecurities? :disgust1:

Those who do not learn from history are doomed to repeat it.

I get dirty looks from Mexicans all of the time. I don't think many of the border jumpers like big, obnoxious white guys towering over them.

I need to be lynched to make me bitter and lose my sense of humor?

Chappelle and every other minority comic makes jokes about how they perceive white people treat minorities, particularily their own group.

Maybe you are right about not making fun of blacks. Stephenville is not Jasper now...

come on man, there's a big gulf between "dirty looks" and lynching.

And yeah, dirty looks is not nearly enough to understand.

Do you get these dirty looks from your Mexican employers, bank officers, rental managers, or from dudes on the street corner?

We can argue this to death, but there is not a black person (and many others as well) that could see humor in bringing up denigrating stereotypes and MLK at the same event.

ah yes, so you are now an authority on racism.

you still don't understand what racism means to someone who is black, asian, hispanic, middle eastern, or of any other non-caucasian race. you don't know what their experience with it is, so stop thinking that they can just ignore it because you don't know what is really happening.

Well, my friend, you should have seen the huge MLK party in downtown Phoenix a couple weeks ago. Big wheeled Cadillacs everywhere bumping rap, do rags, big walking, bling wearing. They're creating their sterotype and seem to want tons of attention, but have a sense of humor about it.

White married guys are portrayed on TV as the stupidest people that have ever walked the earth, and I'm not writing to the NAAWP.

I understand, but they hate me because of my race. Boo hoo. I don't care. I move on and live my life. If they want to have a gringo party, they have my blessings.

If dirty looks is the extent, then no, you don't understand.

Please know, I'm not picking on you or trying to insult you by saying you're ignorant. Just stressing that you cannot understand.

It's like breaking a bone. You may know it hurts, but until you break one, you don't really know anything.

you don't have to deal with mexicans if you don't want to. all minorities have to deal with white people all the time. would you be able to ignore racism if you encountered it everywhere in your entire life?

To be frank, I see the really really bad images of blacks all around me. I was commenting last night as I rode through Hunter's Point that I get messed with more in bad neighboods, i.e. lower income black neighborhoods.

However, I think Hunter's Point and every other ghetto I have visited a huge tragedy, not something I should make fun of.

Then they do not get a pass to make fun of my race. I did not enslave anyone nor lynch anyone. They need a sense of humor and/or to get over it.

I think you need more understanding. No joke either.
I know I don't know what many minorities go through.

I'm talking about having a sense of humor like I do when someone rips on my race. I have a buddy (who's black) who greets me by saying "What's up my cracker". I wouldn't use the N word out of common sense, but I could clown him about race (we both have) and we would have a laugh and the authorities would not be involved.

Lighten up people, some college kids drank some 40s and put rags on their heads.

Seems like you're the only one geting your wee-wees in a froth here Stink.
Chappelle et al can make fun of white people because most white don't get offended. If they did he should probably stop. If a white person makes fun of black people, then people would probably be offended. I guess that's what 400 years of a skewed racial power balance does to people.
If people get offended stop, if they don't it's probably OK to continue. It's hardly rocket surgery.;):clapping:

P.S- We don't get the Chappelle show here but i watched it a few times when I was back home. After one skit that skirted the boundaries of good taste they come back to Chappelle who's laughing and says "I'm gonna get cancer for this sh*t"....that still makes me laugh six weeks later.

what's kind of odd is that this sort of thing happened at UT twice while i was there (as well as a "Bombs over Baghdad" party). i don't recall seeing either incident on the news.
