After a couple weeks of wheedling we finally went exploring for this shop:
Les Amis Du Fromage
http://www.buycheese.com/ (be prepared for bad website design, but whatever)
So - Saturday, got up, drove to the cheese store, and got three French cheeses:
Camembert de Normandie
Some fantastic cheese with a dark black mouldy rind (you don't eat the rind) from Savoyer (I forget what it's called, and packed the remainder in Steve's lunch today)
And a Raw Milk cheese: Mont dOr / Vacherin du Haut-Doubs
Two doors down we found a delicious patisserie where we purchased a baguette and sampled some fantastic blegian waffles... mmmm
Then went to Yaletown to get my hair cut -
Stopped at Agro Cafe (if you haven't been there yet, you must - the BEST espresso you will get in the PNW!) - My Vanilla Latte came with an elegant leaf-like pattern drawn into the froth. Perfection.
While I was getting le snip snip, steve went wandering and came back with a bottle of white.
Home again and ready to break our fast (other than coffee we hadn't eaten yet), we definitely felt like kings as we sat and nibbled tasty cheeses, a baguette, fresh fruit, and sipped wine.
anywho - if you're in Vancouver for a few days, take the time to check out Les Amis Du Fromage, the Patisserie two doors down, and Agro Cafe in Yaletown
