Gorgeous weather.
Exhaust on truck snapped in half on way back from Maine. That was nice. Shopping for new system today.
New rifle day.
Otherwise, back to our regularly scheduled FTS

Yo!

It's too nice to be stuck inside working. So perhaps I'll just be uber efficient, get my work done, then go and do some work around the house.

Weekend was a bust, shitty weather on saturday, followed by shitty sleep. Made for a shitty sunday as I couldn't be motivated to get out of my own way. Now I think I'll either go for a bike ride or spin or mow the lawn...just something to feel alive for a bit

Make up your mind, Mother Nature!!!! Record/near record highs, followed by snow around Tahoe, and misty fog in the valley. If I wanted fog, I'd be in Pacific Grove right about now. At least the casino is open so I can go back to working for a living instead of damaging my knees working on our floors (but the floors do look a ton better!!).

Started a new totally part time gig. The bike shops are so backed up, I got an offer I couldn’t refuse...$30 an hour under the table, working on bikes in my own home shop. And a new source of lines and wholesale accounts. Pretty sweet for now. The only issue is that the owner is a bit of a chaotic mess, and I have to implement systems For him. More on that later...

Tax evasion is unpatriotic, for the record.

/me rode in this morning at a nice, slow pace, and it was good

New job begins today. Been on hold with their help desk for 30 minutes already to get some assistance with my login. Some things just don't change no matter where you work.

I can only assume the help desk guy will spend most of their time explaining to you all the things you don't know rather than trying to solve your problem. ITsplaining.

Living the dream.
How's it going up there?
Can't complain. Getting along well with the new neighbors, exploring our new surroundings by foot/bike/car and getting to know the area. Getting some projects underway at home, generally settling in well. We'll have to have you up for an afternoon soon to enjoy some bikes/beers/burgers, etc.

Edit: Some photos from our recent adventures over the last couple of weeks.

Cleared up another 3 miles of anti-social trails. Should be a nice loop to ride. No disneyland trails, just trails in the woods with lakes and streams and falls.

Made a visit to the office this morning. Meh, I think I’ll continue the WFH gig. Was planning on a bike ride, but holy hell its humid. Even for N.C. standards.

I would not trade 21 hours of my labor painting for $1500
That is where you and I differ.

I will also spend 2 weekends putting in new baseboards and painting them, so I'll probably end up putting in 50-60hrs on this project, with another 100hrs billed. I'm pay $60/hr, so that's my cost/benefit balance I am working around. Semi-skilled labor I can do (paint, baseboards, a/v) ; skilled labor I pay for (drywall w/ knockdown, electrical, carpentry). All-in, I will probably save over $3k, which will likely be Wifey's new quartz counter-tops

My neighbor across the street is doing a yard project this summer that I will be helping with, as he's helping me and they are helping with the girls. Another down the street is going to help me with the baseboards and I will help him with his fence replacement. It's semi-social for our street to do these kinds of projects as well.

I would pay $1,500 to see stoney miserable.
Nah. I'm just tired because Wifey's pushing for a ridiculous timeline. We're not even 2 weeks into turning a room 90* (lights, TV mounting, appropriate electrical, a/v), re-painting 2 floors (including ceilings), installing built-in's, refacing a fireplace surround, new baseboards, tearing out part of a backsplash, installing new lights, whole bunch of drywall replacement w/ knockdown, and a couple hanging light fixtures. She is freaking out that it's "taking so long", despite it being a very normal timeline and we're comfortably on pace to be done with all the contractor work by Wed - 2 whole weeks. Baseboards will take me 2 more weekends, but she's freaking out on the "construction zone" we live in.

If I was good at it, didn't have to spend the time picking up supplies or cleaning up... maybe. Tried it last year and didn't work out. Paid someone to fix what I started and decided 3 rooms was enough. I will resurface a flat roof, pretty hard to eff that up and I can do 3750 sq feet in about 6 hours.

Raining today, 49 degrees. 2 hour window to ride between 2:30 and 4:30... what have I got to lose?
