My buddy is eyeballing a 29" Mongoose at Walmart. I tried to talk him out of buying a bike from Walmart but when he asked why, all I could come up with is because it's low end. Do you guys have a better answer as to why not go with a good brand like Mongoose just because it's carried at Walmart?

frame quality, component quality, it will never work right, made from powder metal, not even fit for off road use...... need any more i can go all day?

That's kinda what I though... But why would good quality companies like Schwinn and Mongoose ruin their names by selling crap bikes through Walmart? Doesn't at least some of that quality / design / engineering show through?

gt, mongoose, cannondal and shcwinn are owned by Pacifica, who pretty much destroyed there names.
