whats going on i always thought that mongooses were sold at Walmart. i looked at the new mongooses and they look pretty tight. they have good suspenion (you know brands you've actually heard of) and good cranks and stuff . whats going on?

Mongoose was the bike to have in the early days of BMX then GT came along and pretty much ended that. Then they started to make mt bikes(Tomac even rode for them for awhile) in the 90's and did alright and have been hangin in there ever since.Yes walmart has been selling them along with Schwinn ,thats just what happens when money takes over i guess.
A bike shop Mongoose is not the same as a Wal-Mart Mongoose. I work for a large retailer and I believe Pacific makes all the bikes including Mongoose that sell in retail stores.
Mongoose has had this going on for some time. They sell crap and also some reasonable stuff that, if nothing else, looks like it would work decently. I actually worked for an LBS that sold Mongoose and some of the bikes were cool. They had some Titanium frame road bikes that had mad good prices and looked really sweet. 'Course they never really could make a decent DH bike.
then there's that crazy looking dh bike that was in the eurobike thread. what's up with that?
yeh mongosse been at it for a little while now. and if eric carter rides one and wins on one then they have to be doing something right. but granted he could ride a box and win but still they make some pretty good **** considering were used to seeing them in walmart.
