How much do these sell for used? I can't find them anywhere. Do they even sell? Should I use it as a boat anchor?

I have a rebuilt '02 on my race rig this year. I love it! One of my favorite forks for X-Treme riding.

Last one I saw on ebay went for $220 I think. I paid $350 for my frame/fork/cranks/stem/headset/guide/derailleur off CL last week.

'03 GT DHi frame, '02 Monster T, GT Stem, Pig DH headset, MRP DHi guide, Truvativ Hussefelt cranks, XTR rear derailleur.

Figure the fork was $50 for mine.

That monster t was one of the greatest forks, i am actually planning on running the 02 monster i have sitting around this year for the dh season. Definately a great fork...go for it

True, it's a great fork, but 12 lbs? Then again, that's the weight of a FOES fork too...
The 2002 and older Monsters were much lighter than that, somewhere around 7-8 from memory. No lightweight for sure but for some people that feeling of indestructability they provide was just what they wanted.

Yep, older Monsters were around 8 lbs. I had two, one of the best feeling forks I've ridden.

Now, the 2003-and after forks...those weighed 13 lbs and felt like crap.

I sold mine for around $200.

170-175mm, I can't remember exactly, something like that.
175 is my recollection.

i rocked one on my old Canfield F1, and it felt great with the Avy in the back. sure wasn't a light bike, however.

175 is correct...

I keep one as a spare fork and a few guys up here still rip pretty hard on them...we have a parts sharing program going so if anyone has a busted one or anything, let me know!

I agree about the $225 price. There isn't a huge demand for this kind of fork because people realize skill makes up for massive travel, but there is always someone who insists they need 10+ inches because they go "big".

This statement makes no sense in this thread.

02 monster T has less travel than the big single crown forks.

At about 9 pounds, it works well for me. I'm currently 260, but hope to be more like 235 by race season.

Either way, a 9 pound fork bothers me very little. If I were a buck-o-five, I would run a Boxxer or something.

I sold my 02 Monster T with 03 crowns and integrated stem for 300 a few years ago. That truly was a sweet fork, didn't really even notice the weight very much once you got going.

Whoops. I was thinking about the Super Monster.

Still $225 seems reasonable. I sold a brand new Drop-off for $200 and that wouldn't made a good pogo-stick.

Funny you should mention the Super Monster.
I just sold the one I had to a kid in the Ukraine.

14.5 lbs on the mail scale here at work :twitch:. 12" of travel. It was a behemoth. It was fun to tool around on for a little while. I wanted to make a bar hopper bike with it, but never got around to it.

I wonder if you can still get seals for the '01-'02 monsters??...I doubt it...that might bring the price down even more...D

Seals are easy, spring kits are a bitch. Marzocchi had one x-heavy spring (not a set, one spring). I ended up getting a set of heavy's for an '03 and cut them down.

The springs are the same id/od just a little long. Using the cut down heavy was about the same spring rate as the correct x-heavy, or at least my professionally calibrated "push down on the spring with your hand" tool seems to think so.

Interested in a 2004 WB DH2.0 that I can't seem to get to work right? No idea what's wrong with it and no interest in finding out...

i loved my '02 monster...best performing fork i ever had. of course, i ruined it with my 24x3 gazzis ;) oh man, the old days of bigger = better
if i had a bike for it to go on i'd buy your in a heartbeat but i think a monster would be overkill for my bottlerocket.
