Anyone been keeping up the latest scandals?

I wonder how Ciaran feels sitting in the pew every week giving money to an organized gang of pedophiles?

I mean, there's nothing that says man of God like this story, am I right?

As a priest in 1975 Cardinal Sean Brady was at meetings where children signed vows of silence over complaints against paedophile priest Fr Brendan Smyth.

And these assholes feel free to lecture about morality? I'd rather take ethical lessons from Idi Amin.

Question:

If you're a child that is raped by a priest, and you don't confess it or tell anyone because you know that the ultimate moral authority in your entire religion on earth, Christ's vicar, is more likely to get out of his satin robes and Prada shoes and put on his boyhood military uniform, adorned with Hitler's swastika and goose-step down the Champs Elysees than to report the rapist to the authorities, do you go to Hell?

Whats important to recognize here is that the vow of celibacy has nothing to do with this.
Like with other criminal organizations it has more to do with Omertà.

heh taken from the mighty wiki but......

Omertà implies “the categorical prohibition of cooperation with state authorities or reliance on its services, even when one has been victim of a crime.”[1] Even if somebody is convicted for a crime he has not committed, he is supposed to serve the sentence without giving the police any information about the real criminal, even if that criminal has nothing to do with the Mafia himself. Within Mafia culture, breaking omertà is punishable by death.
Fairly sure they don't do the "punishable by death" part (anymore) but the rest fits perfectly.
