It's a funny saturday night live skit...and Will Farrells character is playing a cowbell with Blue Oyster Cult and Christopher Walken comes into the recording session and says that Bruce Dickinson wants more cowbell and he plays the cowbell through the whole song and it might be better if you saw it...hard to explain why it was so damn funny...

I was in a debate with someone about whether or not the original song actually had cowbell...I just listened to it and it does...I won...
Um thats the reason it's funny... because who the hell would have so much Cow Bell in a song.

the funny thing is, i think that's the ONLY boc song to have cowbell (i was and remain a big fan). must have been sandy pearlman's idea.

My true personal favorite still has to be the Sportscenter with Tim Meadows as Stuart Scott and Ray Romanooo (sp?) as Chet Harper.

remember when they would tour small clubs as Soft White Underbelly? I'm gonna date myself here when I say I saw em at the Keystone in Palo Alto!
they used that a pseudonym sometimes, but that was really their name before the 1st record came out in '72. you're not *that* old, are you?

btw, they were named the Stalk-Forrest Band before SWU...there's finally a legit release of the unreleased lp they made for Elektra. if you are a fan, seek it out. i had the boot, but got the real cd too.

btw, that is a funny skit; will even looks like eric bloom and they have the guy who's playing don "buck dharma" roeser singing which is correct (eric sang the majority of the tunes). good research by the SNL guys although for some reason they don't use the right names. Gene? who the F is Gene Frenkle?

I always thought they were poking fun at Phil Spector with the Gene Frenkle character, completely unrelated to the actual producer of the classic tune. Don't know how I came to that conclusion though.

I can't decide who I like better,

Connery or Reynolds?

Didn't they do like Val Kilmer also once? I am trying to think of who all they have done.
