Good ol' Dubya, doin' the job ta perteck all the innocent white folks in Amarica and everywhere else from the nasty others. If I was a good law-abiding citizen and some jackass-in-authority kept suspecting me and accusing me of being a terrorist and treating me like one and then cost me my job, I'd be really inclined to fulfill his expectations.
Ah...there's the rub. We are the PURELY commerical division of Bell Helicopter.
It's hilarious though...if there's say, an aluminium bracket to hold an electrical connector....it has a 412 part number (descendant of the "huey")...if it got used purely out of convenience on some other commericial model, then the whole thing is ITAR restricted. I had to make a drawing change because someone had called out a 412 part number that was given to a Honeywell switch. Oh calamity!! I change the parts list to call out the Honeywell part number instead, and national security is restored. So your welcome America.
Venezuelan-born worker files rights complaint over U.S. rules enforced in Canada

Jaime Vargas came to Canada for a better life more than a decade before the president of his native Venezuela fell out of favour with the United States. Yet because of a set of controversial U.S. regulations, Vargas said his livelihood in Canada is being hurt by the stance of an outspoken president he never elected.
The former paid intern at Bell Helicopter Textron Canada Ltd. is accusing his former employer of discriminating against him to comply with the U.S.regulations, called ITAR. On August 17 - three days after Vargas was hired by Bell as a paid intern - Venezuela was added to a list of 15 U.S. countries whose workers are barred access to American defence-related technology such as used by Bell.
"I came here for work because I'd heard that Canada was fair and believed in social justice Why is it that all Venezuelans have a problem, just because our president has a problem with Bush," asked the 52-year-old father of four. "We are a simple family trying to integrate as Canadians.
This week, on behalf of Vargas, anti-discrimination activists will file the first complaint with Quebec's Human Rights Commission over the ITAR rules.
Affected? All of them. Restricted, 24. We have to jump thrpugh all kinds of hoops on a daily basis because of ITAR....even though there's nothing (US) military
The Bell Helicopter plant in Mirabel, Que., is working on an $849-million contract for the U.S. Army and has had to reassign 24 employees in order to comply with the ban.
This isn't really accurate. But ignoring the nuances of what parts are and aren't shared between military and commercial on that one particular program, there are several people working on the same program I am. And like me they have NOTHING NOTHING to do with anything REMOTELY military. The 429 is completely ITAR free. Saying the the 24 people are being affected only because of this particular $849 million contract or whatever is untrue.
