the wall ride and small left handed transfer weren't enough apparently. I was learning a big right-hander transfer and he decided that he couldn't be left out.

what is it w/ some riders that makes them grip really close into the middle on the h-bar? i notice it more in bmx riders but it just looks weird to me. (referencing last pic of noah)

as strange as it may sound, to me it feels more comfortable for jumping.

bigwide handlebars require more exagerated hand motion to get the same front wheel motion. clunky. on the other hand, you do loose a little leverage, but life is a trade off.

btw, that was the thing that caught my eye the most in the pictures, noah's hand position in the last pic.

I don't know. For me, I'm most comfortable when my hands are just a little more than shoulder width apart. If you look at his hand position relative to his shoulders they look just about right. Maybe his bars are just a little wide?
