That's not necessarily true. Gonzalez has made some statements that suggest that domestic wiretapping is also going on.

The point is that Bush and Co. don't need to circumvent the law, yet they are doing it anyway. That leads me to believe that they might have some alterior motive. Maybe they are targeting war protesters? We already know they directed the FBI to keep tabs on peaceful war protesters. Either way, they have broken the law and infringed on the civil liberties of ALL of us. As Benjamin Franklin said (something like this at least) those who give up their liberties for the sake of safety deserve neither.
