I got new brake pads for my avid mechs. and the rear ones are avid brand, they're fine. it's the aztecs in the front that are givin me the crap. They didn't come with one of those little metal paperclip like things to keep them sprung to the outside of the caliper. after the first time i brake, the one side rubs constantly, and the old paperclip like thing wont fit the new pads.

Make sure that you get the clip. I am not sure if the Avid calipers are magnetized anymore becasue of the clips. But my front brake from the first year demagnetized (the caliper not the pad). The guys from Avid came over to my shop and claimed that it had never happened before, but the next year they had the clip:rolleyes: .
Oh well they gave me a new caliper on the spot and I was happy. Everything else about the brakes is top notch. And now with the clip I feel that they are flawless.

hey nrsracer, i just noticed that youre in VA. i was stationed in newport news for six years. i used to ride a place called marle ravine almost every day. i dont think thats its official name but it was in some park east of williamsburg. it was a nice long ride that was reletively flat till you got to the ravine but then it was a blast.

anyways back to the subject; like i said, i was contemplating the ebc pads but im the only rider ive seen in my area using avids so none of the lbss stock pads for them. so since i have to order them ill prob go with the avids again to be safe. my pads are wearing well but theyre missing some small chunks around the edges. im going to order the pads real soon so when mine do need replaced, ive got them on hand and wont be down while waiting for shipping.
is it just me or does that spring make pad removal and installation a royal pain?

just put both pads in the spring thing, squeeze it and put it in. The directions are a lot better on the actual pad container. But yeah, definitely go with the avid pads, as they are sure to come with the clip and directions.

Actuall, im from MD, but ive been to a race near w-burg, cheatnam annex was the name of the place it was a naval storage base or something like that.

but yeah, definitely go with avid pads.
