Along the lines of the other mortgage thread - how many people take care of their own insurance & taxes as opposed to putting it in an escrow account? Just curious.

Wife and I did the escrow thing when we bought our house 1yr ago. We switched to self-pay when we refinanced last month. We were having problems like the town sending the tax bill to us and then we'd have to get someone at the bank to tell us if they actually paid it or not. fax the bill over to the bank, the town wanted special crap on the check, the bank couldn't remember to put the crap on the check......oy
