yesterday i was driving my car home and i started hearin a noise coming from the front left wheel that sounded kinda like i had a flat. so i think "damn, ive got a flat" and i pull off the road i was on, and right as i make the corner....i find myself sliding down the street on the front brake rotor and quarter panel, since my wheel fell off and rolled away.

yup...stripped all the lug nuts that were holding it on, and the wheel just took off when i made the turn. landed on the bumper and quarter panel, bending both out of the way so i could slide ~25-30 feet on the brake rotor, giving the rotor a nice flat spot and the road a nice 30 foot gouge.

i sat there staring at it for a few minutes before i could actually believe that it just fell off while i was driving. i ended up pulling one lug nut from each of the other wheels and driving to a body shop with 3 bolts holding each of my 4 bolt wheels. sketchy. wouldnt have bothered with the body work except i couldnt open the drivers door. might not even need a new rotor either. yeah, still surprised about that.

and i didnt leave a note on either of the parked cars the wheel bounced off of just because it didnt make any marks when it did...

and this is just a little after having to get a new clutch and a few days after getting a new battery....my bike may never see a new part again the way my wallet is going.

You piss anyone off or owe anyone money?

Actually it sounds like the fackers who did your clutch did not do a very good job putting your wheel back on. I'd give them a call.

sorry for laughing at your misfortune, but that just cracked me up.

I had a similar experience with my old car. The hood was secured by a bike lock & twice I had the hood fly up & hit my windshield. One time it blew off & a hinge broke so it kinda flapped along side my car until i could stop. :D

Sweet; I had this old 70's Bronco and the hood use to fly up. One time it flew up and bent over the top of the roof so I just left it laying on 421:D

I had the rear wheel bearing on my Mercury Tracer seize up...that was kinda the same thing. The car was pulling all over the place, and it took me a bit to realize that it wasn't the wind blowing me around.

The tire company that put tires on the day before picked up the repair cost...I'd give the clutch guys a call, like Westy said.

I was driving on the freeway and saw that happen at 70mph. the guy was in an overloaded pick-up, and I was behind (long distance though) him. All of a sudden I see the car suddenly jolt and then a shower of sparks and the wheel goes off into the shoulder. He managed to keep the car under control and roll off onto the shoulder. Bad day for that guy :dead:

yeah really sounds to me those people who fixed yer clutch were out for more business from you. I wouldn't take it back to them at all. Glad you came out allright though but sucks for the car. Hope the repairs aren't all that costly...
