Anybody got any for sale??......Anybody ?.......Bueller?....I have no reason not to ride all the time or not to be motivated for this years racing. But I don't have either. The only thing different this year is a YZ450f.But I thought that'd help, not be the last gasp of stellar-ly,mediocore semi-slo race career.Help me,before I start golfing.

Motivation can be a tough one. Last spring I trained like mad, took a bunch of trips to bootleg, then broke 3 ribs and lacerated a kidney 4 weeks before my first race of the season. It took me until August to really get the drive back. However, when I finally did start riding well I managed 18th in the semi-chump class at the US Championships. I can live with that for my first National in a number of years and my first one as a Semi.

For me, being healthy and riding a lot makes me want to go fast. If I'm hurt or have been off the bike for a while, it's hard to be pumped to race or train. I also think as you get older the risk of getting hurt weighs more on your conscience. I'll be 37 next month, and I'm pretty much tired of getting hurt. I see how good the young guys are in the air and know that it’s probably too late for me to catch up. Instead I try to beat the kids by racing smart. Hit all the corners, pace the course, easy in the sketchy areas, not too much practice, good rest, good food, no mechanicals, no crashes. It would be tough to win with that plan, but you do beat most of the guys riding over their heads.

I’m not sure if there is any meaning to my post, other than I understand what you are saying. Motivation can be tough after a number of seasons. For this winter I decided to stay off the DH bike and also bought a moto. I’ve only been riding mx for 4 months, but I’m signed up for a desert race next week. 50 miles of holding on for life. This has motivated me to be in the gym and had me riding the mx at least 1x/wk all winter. Hopefully, this will get me pumped to be on the DH when the UT snow melts.

Hey Scary, you suck. You're the worst rider I've ever seen and I had sex with you mom last night. I'm gonna kick the crap out of you this year because you have no talent and I hate you.

Hows that? :D

Over your shoulder whispering
Just put in the first Rage Against the Machine CD and listen to it repeated by a dose of Master of Puppets. You'll be ready to pull up trees by their roots again.

Question: Did you shave off your floxen locks of hair by chance there almighty Sampson?

best motivation? move somewhere cold, snowy and rainy. If you can ride any time you want, you'll always be looking for the perfect day to ride. "Eh, it's cloudy/cold/hot/sunny/etc, I'll just ride tomorrow" becomes a daily thought process. But sit at home with 10" of snow on the ground, and as soon as you realize you *can't* ride, you want to. Suddenly you're heading out when it's 20 degrees and cloudy, just b/c the snow has melted earlier in the week and you need to ride. You start looking forward to, dreaming about the upcoming race season, and every time you pass your DH bike gathering dust you start counting the days till the first race. Remembering lounging in the sun drinking a beer in the parking lot after a particularly good race run, or imagining what this years courses will be like. Road trips, day trips, cruising the local trails with the girlfriend, it all seems painfully far away.

You always want what you can't have...

You know who's surprisingly tough? Van Dine. He's tall, kind of skinny, but has arms like a spider monkey. As the team manager it's my job to knock everyone down a peg or two when I can. Otherwise they start making outrageous demands like: having a team mechanic, needing pit space at the nationals, or even getting paid. What are these guys thinking? If they get all this cushy stuff they'll go soft and lose their motivation.

There you go! You need to rough it more. You don't need the full factory Foes ride. Get a use Bullit and a broke down Boxxer. That's the titcket.

So it sounds like I need to fight Sanjay for trunk space,do all the nationals on borrowed bikes with broke derailur's, spokes and **** and start on over processed, instant pasta?......Sounds oddly alluring.....Do I have to ride my bike till then though?
