Some guy on another messageboard flies C5 Galaxys and recently transported a bunch of the President's stuff, including his bike and 63 secret service people to Crawford, TX. Here are the pics:

Nah... it's cool that the President has the same passion for mountain biking that we do, not to mention he rides his bike more than 90% of those on this board.

I like the fact he rides and crashes (check the bar ends), and gets back up and hits it again, just like the rest of us...

I don't like the fact that he gets back up again.

:blah:

So what, he rides a bike. There are thousands of evil assholes in the world on bikes. He's just like the rest of THEM.

doesn't look he knows much about suspension setup; check out the o-ring position on the shaft.

either that or there's nothing on his trails to actuate the shock for full travel.

Humm... maybe he, like H8R, like to ride a stiff one... only the Pres. likes it that way on his shock set-up.??

I love the fact that like most other non-cyclist that own a bike, he neglected to have his assisant or one of his bodyguards remove the frame size sticker from his trek fuel.

i also find it very ironic that our oilman president has chosen a bike named "fuel".

if he's sponsored, does he need to claim the bike's worth on his taxes as additional income?

does trek pick up his race fees too?

edit - on further thought, it's us tax paying chumps who pay those fees for the arms race...

One thing that is cool, however, is that he owns a complete one of a kind fuel 110. They don't do raw carbon mainframes for those bikes, so that is pretty cool.....makes it easier for the SS to track it down if it got stolen...

I know you'd rather have a Pres that plays 'hide the cigar' with ugly fat chicks. Something you can relate to perhaps?

N8, if you feel the need to insult me in this thread, at least try to be a bit wittier.

then again, conservatives aren't much known for their wit, are they? oscar wilde's pubes contained more biting humor and incisiveness than any right wing comedian/satirist i can think of.

I suggest you read some PJ O'Rourke.

i recall him as being some Rolling Stone hack, but i haven't read that rag in about 25 years, after they changed focus from music to whatever brand of underwear the celebrities might be cavorting around in.

is that all the frothers have, one guy? i've heard dennis miller is a republican too (although i would bet he's really a libertarian) and he's pretty funny. so that makes it two to about 564,034.

Bush crashed that thing while riding on a sidewalk. Kerry at least rides his bikes hard for what little free time he must have. I think he crashed his newest Serotta on its first ride by washing out a tire in some sand on a downhill corner.

Before the election the Secret Service had to buy some bikes to ride with Kerry. We set them up with a bunch of Trek 1500's. The funny part was watching 4 of the of the most highly trained cops in the world take 20 minutes to figure out how to put the bikes on a hitch rack.

I saw an article in Bicycling magazine comparing Kerry with his Serotta Ottrott ST to Bush's Fuel. I think it's pretty cool that they both ride. It does seem like Kerry rides a lot more than Bush. He has a sweet, hand made road bike from a smaller niche company, where as Bush simply rides the most famous brand. I wonder how many other countries have leaders that ride?

uhh, I don't think Bush crashed on pavement. I think it was dirt service road and while he now loves riding, apparently, his running 6 minute miles was wearing out his knees. So props to him.

As for Kerry, sorry, but I find it very hard to believe your shop sold bikes to the secret service for two reasons:

1. No non-roadie in the world could keep up with Kerry. He's been riding for years and has probably tens of thousands miles.

3. He's on pavement. The secret service would be in cars or motorcycles riding along side of him. I think Bush was followed by ATVs. You don't want your guards being tired if something happens.

Ummmm...huh? That's an '04 Fuel 98, they made that 'nude' frame with the carbon weave painted onto it. It's not a Top Fuel 110. The 110 has full XTR, SID WC, Bonty XXX stuff, which that bike obviously doesn't. It was given to him by some guy from Texas.

I'll think of Bush as an MTBer when I see him ripping some singletrack with that carbon sex machine.

Until then...yeah.

I guess politics come up when the local pundit puts up a post about a politicians bike.

Who wudda thought?

Sorry if I went off, but the whole "hey he's just like us" thing seemed ridiculous.
No one on here is a silver spoon fed man-child with the finger on the button.

Me and N8 are more alike than N8 and Bush.

If he likes to ride, who the hell are we to judge, just because he isn't gapping the peloton in NWD6? So he's got 200 asshats coming up with ways to make everything he does into a photo op. That doesn't mean he isn't enjoying the ride.
