'Morning. I'm tired. Another weekend, another race. I did a duathlon yesterday. 2.85 mile run, 24 mile bike, 3.1 mile run. After the first run, we merged with the 200+ triathletes for the rest of the race I finished 2nd overall! My highest finish in a race. Granted it was a small field (27) because most folks did the triathlon, but all I can do is show up and race. I lead the race for the entire first run, which was really cool. That was a new experience for me, being the leader and the first into transition. Kind of cool to be behind the bike escort while he's yelling at cars, volunteers, and spectators, hollering to "Make way, the leader is coming through!" That was ME! :weee: But then I got on the bike was passed one mile in. :D The winner beat me by almost 10 minutes, so I basically had no chance. I was 1st on run 1, 10th on the bike, and 1st on run 2.

Sounds like your efforts should be spent on biking, IAB :D

I came into work hoping to see that Matlab had finished running a ~36 hour calculation over the weekend. Instead I found the computer freshly rebooted and doing nothing thanks to Windows Update forcing a restart some time during the night. Gah.

Wifey seems to have a nasty tear of the meniscus. Retarded waiting time for a publicly funded MRI (8 month estimate) drove us to get it done privately.

Called on Monday, was in on Wednesday. Walked out with results.

Doesn't change the fact that she can't sleep due to knee pain, but at least we know WHAT is painful ...

I can't ride in the heat. It kills me. Well, not really. I went for a ride , and I survived...

So how long does she wait for the publicly-funded knee surgery?

Oh - and back from DH'in. Well, not really since I was on my old Reign and discovered that black tech trails at Steamboat are probably a bad idea for me.

Morning! Doing laundry after another successful Monkeyfest. Just got my teaching assignment for next year and I am not psyched. Need to call the new guidance counselor to see what she was thinking.

I think my body is revolting for riding 8 hours a day for 7 days straight. Back to the salt mines today. Now I just need to survive until the next vacation, whenever that may be.

Actually got some things done at work today AND someone delivered a coffee to my office. Not bad for a Monday.

Ah, now we're talking. It wouldn't be a Monday without a bangyourheadonthewall moment. :banghead:

I went directly to one of our service venders to ask for help, a guy responded and told me to contact my corporate held desk. So I did, and they forwarded my ticket directly back to the guy I originally emailed. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOT

With the seasonal heat, painful ribs and a general sense of malaise I haven't been riding very much. Need to get motivated and get my shit together for my iceland trip next week.

You should "unfriend" her....

I had a similar situation, and everyone I know up here has gone through the same thing. Surgery is only a 2-4 months wait as long as its not urgent. MRI takes much much longer. In my case, my surgeon wasn't sure my ACL was torn, and it was an 8mo. waiting period for an MRI, so he said he'd fix my meniscus asap (I waited 2 mo.), and while he was in there with the scope he had a look at my ACL. It turns out it was was completely torn. But because of my [insert german accent ] "massive musculature" [/german accent] I didn't have too much instability. I waited 8 years before getting the ACL fixed, but then wanted to start playing soccer/ultimate/skiing and needed it done at that point.

work or vacation?
Vacation. A few days boozing in Reykjavic, 4 days backpacking, then a few more days in Reykjavic before heading home. I contacted a charter company about some Heli-assisted mountain-biking, but have not heard back. Folks I am going with do not ride so I would have to tack on to another group to meet the minimum occupancy required to fire up the helo.

Afternoon, beautiful backpacking this weekend with friends. Still not right with anything after last week's terribleness. I'll try to remember the wise man's tale "We Shall See" So let's see some pics, eh?

I'll be needing specifics next time I head that way! The best rest stop on this drive was actually here:

great ride but it kicked my ass. never had leg cramps that bad before. started w/a 15 mile climb w/3000'+ gain...to get to 10 miles on mostly ruff, gnar downhill.

$3 pints at ho foods will be followed by an epic gazpacho making session and much foam roller usage.
