So it looks like I am moving to Tahoe in about 16 weeks.

My biggest question is how do I secure a job before or very soon after I arrive?

That is what worries me the most. Finding housing doesn't look like a problem.

How would you all go about this?

When I move someplace new, I just bring along a large stockpile of cash that can hold me over until I find something.

In the case of moving to Santy Cruise, I'll be doing that as well as staying with my GF's mom in Cupertino while looking for housing/job.

No, it's removing myself from the life style I have had for the past 19 years of my life.

I am going to go to ltcc.

Since I already live/work there, my suggestion would be to check out the casinos first. Only because they are the larger employers in the area, and the variety of jobs should make it easier to get started. They pay every other week, so keep that in mind when you bring the pocket-loads of cash to get by.

^^^ good way to get started unless you have something lined up prior to your move. because of the industry i'm in, i find the job, then move.
