Starting this thread to help new members and beginners into mountain biking with their riding.

These are basic fundamental videos to help with techniques and or improve on your foundation of skills.

MODS feel free to PM me about the videos or move this thread to correct sub-forum.

Thirty five minute video covering the basics of riding.

Thirty eight minute video leaning more towards trail/ all mountain riding.

One hour and eighteen minute video with a ton of useful information. Leaning towards downhill riding.

    Adding to this...

If you prefer to read helpful tips, then I would suggest purchasing "Mastering Mountain Bike Skills - 2nd Edition" by Brian Lopes and Lee McCormack.

^^^ What Chemist said. Excellent book! (and the sections about 29ers are funny now that Lopez loves his Ripley...)

Here's something to experiment with: Stand over your bike, hands on grips. Imagine yourself climbing. It's hard work and you're breathing hard. With elbows tucked in at your sides, do your lungs inside your ribs expand easily? Try it. Then rotate elbows out, and take a deep breath. Notice the difference in being able to expand your ribcage just by getting your elbows out.
Now, gently pull back on your grips like the above video suggested. Notice where you immediately get tense. Tension wastes unnecessary energy.
