Welded my friends Dock. This guaranties me 3 weeks at his cottage on Canandaigua Lake. Access to his boat, his quad, and all the wood I want to chop. I love chopping wood.

Watched, Sorry to Bother You, last night. First half of the movie was like a slightly campy, slightly surreal, office comedy. Second half of the movie.... HORSE PEOPLE.... That's all I'm gonna say. Huge WTF :fie:

Jesus. It's 2019. Why there are 20 forms I need to fill in when getting a new job 90% of which say the same shit. We can use the internet to screw up elections or start pogroms but we won't use the internet to make all the formalities of a new job easier. XXI century you fail me.
just wait until you have to fax one of them

Sounds... hoardy?
One room was clearly hoarding, Bman's current room was Mad Dogs weekend room before that and the "guest room" was actually set up for that before the niece moved in.

Lil Mans room was stuffed full of shit, a lot of it was tossed/donated. But there are 2 bedrooms full of furniture in the garage currently. I also have a lot of tools, I need a shop. :(

Fortunately, when faxes were hot shit Poland was a mess of corruption and violence so we are a bit more modern than US just because we have no technological leftovers from the 90s (or 70-90s because of communism)

A great satire of modern capitalism. Not very subtle but you know if it was possible it would fucking happen. I'd appreciate better direction at parts but this movie is basically real life.

it blows my mind that in 2019 in the United States that there are companies that will only accept a form via fax and not email.

Thankfully I have a free doximity account that gives me electronic faxing. eFax still spams me once in a while, too.

Worst part is there are countries where you fill all your taxes online in an easy form some the jurb tax forms are also easy as shit and everything is transferable but yeah my country would rather argue whether claiming a toothless declaration of protecting LGBTQ people from violence equals teaching preschoolers to masturbate or that we need 1980s era Reagonomics because that dude said some nice things in Poland back in the day and old US TV series shaped our view of the world.

I was totally into it and having fun with the movie until the horse people. Obviously they were building to a big reveal of whatever shady shit was going on in the background but I was expecting slave labor or something. The plot in general kinda went to shit after the horse people. Feel like they wrote themselves into a weird spot and had trouble getting out.

My manager announced his resignation today. Best manager I've had in the last 15+ years.

Figures.

:disgust:
I think I've had seven in the last five years and I'm not actually sure who my current manager is.

That's my kind of oversight.

Not even have to file here, they know everything and you just have to approve your forms online unless you have some funky stuff going on.

Speaking of sending faxes: I tried to deal with a bank in the US recently and they required that I fax them a form. No way I could find a fax here, e-mail to fax didn't work either so in the end they had to accept an e-mail. And they wouldn't wire me money but instead sent a check, because "it is safer". Yeah, but it is also so last century! :banghead:

Not really. Horse people was the point. It is absurd because late capitalism ideas are absurd. Ffs there is a startup that want's to use blood boys AFTER silicon valley (TV series) satirized the idea of getting young people blood for old people (no proven medical benefits).

I'm pretty sure Jeff Bezos would have no problem of turning you into a mutant if it made you need less pee breaks in Amazon warehouses. It is literally where Amazon would be going if technologically possible. Also how could the movie be going towards slave labour when it had slave labour since the beginning?

Finally it's a satire. Don't expect a movie to be 100% serious with a satire. In the same way Starship troopers satirizes pro militaristic tendencies of 90s america. Yeah it's not serious but it serves to satirize how stupid some ideas are where taken to their logical conclusion.

Starship Troopers was written in 1958-1959.
I mean the movie. The movie is different from the book. The book is completely of it's time. It shows the pro army sentiments of post WW2. FFs Eisenhower was president post war.
The movie on the other hand was made in the 90s by a very erudite director who didn't read the book because he found the first few acts outdated and idiotic. So both are completely separate works of fiction and they only share the title and some basic ideas. Basically they are as close to each other as Pizza Hut is to actual pizza.

I love both the book, and the movie. In only the vaguest of terms are they the same story.

Is there another kind?

Just submitted my two-week summer holiday request. Hopefully the outgoing boss-man will approve prior to his departure. If not... might be quittin' mah jorb.

I am only required to give 24 hours notice for vacation. I could literally come into work tomorrow 5 minutes early and say I am taking the next two weeks off starting the next day.
