I am trying to figure out if there is any way to modify my dirt bike. In light of my hand injuries, I'm not sure I will be able to use the twist throttle on my dirt bike and am wondering if a left handed twist throttle exists?? Also, if I could make/buy a left handed twist throttle, I would also have to switch the front brake (right side) to the left, and move the clutch to the right. I think I can figure the clutch (it's cable not hydraulic), but where can I find a left side mounted hydraulic front brake?? Do any other motor sports (4 wheelers, snowmobiles, anything??) use a front brake mounted on the left side? Any help or direction would be much appriciated.

This is just an idea. Would you be able to put a quad throttle on it?
That has been suggested. Unfortunately, my thumb doesn't work all that well anymore. I'm trying to avoid having to give it a full time job when I start dirt biking again, because I know it's going to have arthritis and bone degeneration issues later in life. I'm trying to avoid either of those issues for as long as I can. But it is a last resort.

Im not a MX rider, but wouldnt it be tough to clutch and throttle with the same hand?
That's why she needs to move the clutch to the right. The throttle is going on the left cause the right wrist doesn't work.

DHDiva, simply flipping the lever over might work. It might look silly, but it might work

Yeah, most likely I will flip the clutch lever over, or I may be able to mod a brake lever for a cable brake to work. I think I figured out how to switch the throttle over this afternoon!! I guy who works at our bike shop used to work for a motorcycle company. He said that dual cable throttles can be reveresed by switching the cables around in them, and then they work on either side. Now all I have to find is a left side mounted hydraulic brake lever!

It looks like you figured out how easy it would be to switch the cables. It's a safety feature having the dual cables so you can twist the throttle closed it the spring fails.

On the left side brake lever, why not use a mtb DH lever? It should work for moderate riding. If your running 20 minute motos on a supercross track, then I am not sure if the resivour would be big enough. The other thing that comes to mind is talking to Magura about if one of their hydrolic clutch levers could be made to work. Don't know.

Could you find a hydraulic clutch lever off a road moto (I think Honda CBR1100s run em, must be heaps of others too) and simply route it to the brake caliper?
