I allways like the quote, if you have a $2 head wear a $2 helmet.
I ride a full face MTB helmet and have been thinking about getting a good moto helmet. After reading this post I will have to get another Motocross helmet (probably a Bell) sooner rather than later...
I already posted a pic of the outside of this helmet earlier in this thread. HJC Effect MX. Here's the inside after last fridays slow speed crash where I landed right on top of my head after going over the bars.
I have a very sore neck and back and my scalp is a bit tender. But no concussion. As far as I'm concerned it did it's job. I'll be replacing it with another Snell M2000 rated lid.
I've knocked myself cold twice so far just this season. I've switched from a Troy Lee D2 (cracked) to a Troy Lee SE moto helmet. I have a tough enough time remembering things that happened a few weeks ago - I can't afford any more brain jiggling.
i've taken some very serious headplant digs in my days that i honestly don't think i'd be alive it it weren't for my strictly using a moto helmet while DHing.....
Not yet, so far I only have the gigantic PDF catalogue, and most of the contents in my current version are renditions of product, not actual photographs (such as the helmet image posted). I'd imagine we'll have real photos within the next month floating around the net.
In the past 2 weeks, I have been in the market for a full face DH helmet. I landed head first onto a rock off a bridge about 5 ft. in the air. I am ok, but my helmet is shot. It was a older 661 and is now absolutely useless. I was debating to get another Dh oriented helmet or go with a full on MX helmet and after reading quiet a few posts on this subject and talking to Crispy at Go-Ride and reading James' post, I went with this one. I couldn't decide if I wanted a light helmet that breathed better or a MX helment that offered better protection. I went with the better protection. I can justify the extra weight and sweat for the added protection. you can put a price on a helmet but not on a normal life after a crash; whether is be a fast or slow one; either one can do damage. just my $.02.
