I just weighed a 3" 350 steel & Ti spring, the steel was 548g, the Ti was 358g.

200g isn't a bad saving :)
thanks for the info...if i can shave off a pound with; ti spring, acid 2 pedals, dt spokes/nipples and mavic rims...i'll be stoked. :monkeydance:

Do you just weigh your bike, or do you actually ride it? Hmmm, season pass to Whistler or 5th set of wheels that are 10 grams lighter than the 4th.

mill creek, WA (now in Surrey UK)
WTB Laser Disc FR rims
DT 440's
DT straight gauge spokes/brass nipples
2.5 DHF 60
2.35 DHR 60 1 ply foldable
but i'm running mavics and dt rev spokes with alloy nipples once they get here.

i have three sets of wheels for different tire set ups i run a 2.5 front and rear, 2.5 front /2.35 rear and a 2.35 front and rear. my deemaxs run a 2.4 set up...keep in mind that i'm only 135 lbs and i run really light tires and set up...this might not be ideal for a heavier rider. my 2.5 front and 2.35 rear set up is at 36 lbs.
your turning into the new bullcrew :busted:

and into the aesthetics rather than ride qualities :)

Zing!

I just don't understand. If either of us lived in a place with 3 ft of snow, we'd use the money to fly somewhere more conducive to riding, and enjoy some quality shreddage.

Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Argentina, South Africa, Costa Rica, or even Bootleg in Las Vegas or somewhere in SoCal would pay off more in terms of faster race times in the summer. And riding is fun. Oh wait, I'm truing a wheel right now so I can meet a buddy on the trail in 30 minutes....

Low latitudinal locales rock! Are you doing any of the Fontucky Winter Series?

Revolution spokes + DH = no way jose
I don't care what you weigh.
Sweet bike though :thumb:
I am giving them a try this year as well. Its worth a shot. They are stronger and cheaper than TI spokes, which I see my roommate building for all his bikes. (Side note: he just builds expensive bikes, gets custom paint, and custom helmets, he doesnt ride them or use them enough to notice the benefit of lightness)

I am not one who tends to break spokes, and at $1 a piece, its not that big of a risk especially since rims tend to blow up on me instead of spokes.

Still 4 sets of wheels?!

meh...i'm a parts whore what can i say and my work pays me well enough to subsidize my hobbies...besides when you have friends that own bike shops and work for a bike company...parts are dime a dozen. for the cost of buying one set of i9's directly...i have 3 sets 440's from my buddies.

i've only had the chance to ride in western canada and california. my intention is to get down to utah and ride.

Not really sure if I am doing any. I was actually really close to doing my first moto endurance race this weekend, but was talked out of it. It is a National and everyone said it would be no fun for a first-timer.

Not sure about you Weedy, but if I lived in a place that had 3-ft of fresh powder I wouldn't even be thinking about bikes, but then again skiing/snowboarding/telemarking is not for everybody. Then again 3-ft of powder in a flat area would suck unless you are into snowmobiling.

Low latitudinal locales do rock. It's all about the endless summer. 6 months down there, 6 up here. Repeat.

That would be it. I'm thinking about riding my 950 out there tomorrow morning to check it out. Not sure right now though. It's raining here, which means there could be snow driving over the Cajon pass. I went to Mammoth a couple weeks ago and it took my friend and myself 3 hrs to go up it because CHP was doing escorts.

Here's a link to the flyer I stumbled across that perked my interest.

Have you done any D37 races, or any desert moto races? I was told that in March there are some better ones to do.

I've just been getting into the moto thing, and I'm on a KTM 200, not a 600+ (or is that what you're riding out there just to spectate?), so I'd be racing that size class with a few of my buddies. I haven't done any races yet but I'm planning on it real soon. It appears I'm not the only one lured by that form of racing over the local offerings for DH hehe.

The 950 would be just so that I could make the ride out there and not have to truck a bike. If I were to race it'd be on a DRZ400.
If you find out about any good ones to start out shoot me a PM. I love racing, but am kinda on a couple year hiatus from Fontucky, so I need something else to give me my fix.

Hey, if those tyres are singleply and/or 2.35, you cheated on the weight... cause it's not really a DH bike anymore. :p

2 ply front (2.5) and 1 ply rear (2.35) ...if i run 2.35's minions frt and rear the bike sits sub 35 lbs...but thats going a bit too extreme.

A 2.35 1 ply rear is extreme...if anything I would run a larger 1 ply in the front. However, I wouldn't do that either.
