Fellow Forum Users,

Recently I posted some information about a DH race in Angel Fire, NM called the FINAL DESCENT. I posted this in the regional forums as well, and also in the regional forums on other sites. Well, I was SEVERELY flamed for posting "spam" in a Colorado forum at another site. So two things:

1. If anyone saw that post as inapprpriate or "spam" like, I apologize. It's certainly not my intent to do so (spam, that is) but I thought that quite a few of you might be intersted, especially considering the proximity of the event to interbike, that maybe some of yous could make it out a few days early and enjoy some really sweet riding.

2. To anyone who DID see it as "spam" - thanks for not chewing my @ss in public and just letting it slide. It's the little things like that which make Ridemonkey SO much better than other sites! There's just a lot more tolerance and community here than almost every other site I've visited. I've met some of you in person, and extended my riding family through this site. Posts that have been made on this site have given me hope, made me laugh, yadda yadda yadda. So again, thanks for being who ya'll are.

3. Check out FINAL DESCENT III for some good times, would ya? It's going on Oct. 1-3, Angel Fire is ON THE WAY (for anyone travelling from the East) to Interbike. You owe it to yourself.

 :D

what forum was that? they suck.
It really bummed me out, man.

EDIT: I think what bothered me the most was when I checked the guys' profile and website. Hey, I like to know who's criticizing me, right? And I know it's stereotypical and wrong of me to say this, but I wonder if he would have been so quick to call out "SPAM" on my post if he wasn't a rigid-single-speed kind of guy?

Whats wrong with "rigid-single-speed kind of guy"?

If you know that it is "stereotypical and wrong to say" why do you even bring it up?

Step away from the pulpit.

:stosh:

Posting about a race is not spam, IMO.

Posting race info is not spam... posting it in every forum on RM would be spam...

But I'll be damned if I'm gonna stand idle and let you diss singlespeeders! BAN HIM!!! :D

My thoughts exactly.

By the way Full Trucker, will you be at Mammoth? If so I'd like to point myself out. Maybe we can take a couple practice runs together.

That's what I was thinking. With the limitedamount of events riders have you would think people would be thankful for the heads up. Then again some people just suck :mumble:

Maybe it was too much cowbell.

Now I want to go to that race more than ever. Let's all show up at that guys door in a caravan to the race, escort him there. Might be the only way he'll learn that any notice from Full Trucker is a deeply generous act of kindness and inclusion.

I think he was properly handled as he was obviously in the minority. If he's too stupid the realize the significance of a race that's part of a series that includes his state, them face punchin' tickets need to come my way.

But see the thing is...........I'm pretty sure you already know this............as we all know you're a pretty bright fella. Now why would you pose a question like this when you're smart enough to know that this guy is irrelevant and that you were completely justified? I think it's all about another chance to announce your race.........which then moves into the realm of serious overspammage. Not so sneaky now are you?

Seriously, I just did the math on which is cheaper, the price of a yeti dj frame or me driving to new mexico and racing...................tough one.

Hope your spine is healin up all right.

Unfortunately, I won't be attending... I'm bummed about it, but with no dinero and no time alotted to be off of work, it just won't happen! Next year, though... for sure!

It is, thanks! Like I said earlier, stuff I have read in this forum has definitely given me hope, and the whole spine thing was exactly what I was thinking of. And BTW, your post on MTBR was PRICELESS! "The Full Trucker Empire is not what it once was..." That's hot sh!t, man! And it's not the Yeti frame you should be worried about, but the trip to France... ooh la la!

Hey now, I only posted it in the relevant forums! You know... all of them! :D

Sorry, that may have come off wrong... I wasn't trying to make gross generalizations about certain types of people, rather just say that a local DH rider from Western Colorado would more than likely not have had that sort of reaction. In looking back, it's obvious that at the time I wrote that, I was pretty annoyed, and was equating "rigid-single-speed-type-of-guy" with "useless-findamentally-close-minded-reactionary-jerk" and in doing so, became one myself. Dammit, I hate when that happens.

Best to never ignore the crazy laughing guy for he may be up to no good, or you may find yourself laughing right along with him.

Unless you were being sarcastic and nailing me on overplaying the joke. In which case, just ignore the over-explainer.
