basically chocolate custard. found a very easy recipe in cooks illustrated, which is a lot simpler than the traditional method of making the creme anglais via scalding, then baking in a water bath.

Damn, that looks tasty.

No pics but our x-mas eve dinner included:
shrimp cocktail (maine shrimp's in season, get some!)
lobsters
ny strips (rubbed w/: kosher salt, coffee grounds, cayenne, garlic)
twice baked taters
haricot verts
salad
several pies

Xmas day was your usual turkey affair but good nonetheless.

I am officially sick of food now.

I'm guessing his DSLR + his 50mm 1.8 prime lens. Those lenses make for some *nice* pictures. :thumb:
it's the artist, not the gear. :D

actually, i didn't use my 50mm lens (sold the f/1.8 to mtnrider and got the f/1.4 version); the stovetop shot used the tokina 12-24 f/4 lens, and the others were just the cheap kit lens. all w/ flash; not much ambient light in the kitchen/dining room at dinner time.
