From what I understand, listning to NPR, this election should be a slam dunk for the Democrats. (Of course NPR can sometimes be a little less than impartial……but whatever). But let's just say that on Nov 7 the GOP wins handily. Would anyone believe it? With the defective computerized voting machines and the like, would the count be upheld?

The Masons are going to decide the outcome anyway so I guess this is all a moot point. But my election prediction is that the election will be tied up in the courts for months.

I think it will be closer than most people think, what I find more interesting is what is happening with Joe Liebermann. If the Senate ends up being split he could wield a lot of power depending on if he declares himself an independent or a dem.

after the ass boning the DNC gave him, i don't think it would be too hard to figure out where he's going to line up.

Of course, if the dims lose then it could only be due to rigged voting machines and the power of the free masons!!!

why should their excuse for sucking at elections be any different this year?

Ditto for McCain. Obviously not the same situation but you get the point.

Actually the whole Lieberman/McCain just points out the problems I have with a two party/primary system. We usually end up with two candidates to choose from, one left of what the majority wants and another right of the masses. McCain or Lieberman can never get anywhere within their respective parties because they are too close to the middle but they are quite popular across the entire population.

why, cuz he had no problem bitching out bush? i really don't understand why disagreeing with (or standing up for yourself against) one member of your party illicits a complete shift in your political affiliations!

He is just not far enough to the right as the right wing wackos that are running the republican party.

yea, i guess that was kind of a rhetorical statement...i think i just need to move again to a different country for a while. what pisses me off most here, however, is that i have a lot more respect for mccain than just about any other prevolent republican figure...you'd think that people (even the dumbest of the dumb) would at least recognize strong character and the ability to coherently and logically speak one's mind.

Dems take House, Senate is a toss-up.

Best possible results would come in either a total Democratic failure or total Democrat victory. I think some more moderate Republicans have finally figured out what a giant clusterfvck their leadership is and could potentially start trying to fix things if they have a clear majority. Same would go for the Democrats. However, if you have a blue House and red Senate, then we just get lots and lots partisan bickering that won't get anywhere.

But then again, both parties are veritably identical, soo...

Agreed.

For instance, George Allen should not win in this state. He's done everything wrong, from calling someone a racial slur on camera to various other things. Yet, he's going to win anyway. There are too many people in this state that will say, "Even if I don't think Allen is all that, and I'm dissatisfied with Bush, at least he's not a Democrat." I suspect the same will be true in a lot of very red states, like in the Midwest region. I think the Dems will pick up some seats but not enough to take the house. The Senate is a bit closer, so they might be able to win a slight majority, but I'm not so sure about that either.

I would not be surprised at all if the GOP maintain both house and senate. Combination of the diehard republicans getting out and voting (because the media is predcting the Dems doing well), and of course the various government conspiracies.

You live in a different Virginia. There are a lot of people that will end up voting for him because of the racial slur.

I'm not voting for him because his election signs are littering my damn neighborhood...more than any other candidate. The "VOTE JOE" signs are almost enough to want me to drive my car through the person's house.
I'm voting for Al Weed because seeing large "WEED" signs in peoples front yards crack me up.
