May is probably the best time to mountain bike in the Andes.
The rain season is virtually over, and the clay/loomy singletracks have the best grip of the year...
I havent had a "real" vacation in over 2 years, and I could only get away from Lima for a weekend (my wife is 6 months pregnant); so I booked a flight with my friends to Cusco last saturday at 5am, left my car at the airport with my suitcase and office clothes.... and came back to Lima monday 6am; early enough to pick up my car from the airport and straight to work at 9am....
hella tiring to fly 1200 miles to ride 5 trails in 2 days; but incredibly rewarding...
