Between a rock and a hard place.
Well, actually it's a rebuilt old toy. The Coast Guard has recieved it's first HH-65C helicopters. The primary difference being the replacement of the Lycoming LTS101-750 with the Airel Turbomecca 2C2 engine. The upgrade provides an additional 600hp for the twin engine rescue helo.

This upgrade was long awaited and much needed.

They also reconfigured the flight stations and completely reconfigured the avionics. Equipment upgrades are said to have removed close to 600lbs from the aircraft and increased cabin size by 30% providing a huge increase in capability for the aircraft.

Cool! I'm glad my boys finally got what they needed.

And in not so groovy news they continued the move to arm the HH-60J and HH-65C.
