My only claim to athletic fame was having Larry Brunson as a neighbor in the late 70s when he was with the Broncos.

My only claim to athletic fame was having Larry Brunson as a neighbor in the late 70s when he was with the Broncos.
One tiny but funny story.
He and I only rode once together. He was just taking it easy and I was able to take him once in a "sprint". Later on I said, "Well you proved it: you are a better rider than me". Everyone laughed at the obvious stupidity of my statement.
But it also happened to be his birthday, so that night in an email I mentioned how I passed him doing 32 mph (the cruising speed in a Pro crit) and I wrote, "I just said you were better than me because it was your birthday."
