Or his motorcaid at least. She was dirving north on I-5 through Seattle when he came through with about 200 cars and all exits/on ramps blocked by our police. Kinda cool. He is up visiting Bill Gates (since the richest man in the world probably wields more power than the president). I bet right now they are having cocktails and discussing how they will own the world(economically of course).

I know we trade with them a lot...but they are doing a lot of military build up and have a lot of smart people. To me its reminicent of Germany prior to WWII when they were gathering intelligent people and driving them towards a national cause (Don't come in here with that Nazi crap, becuase I am talking purely in a science form). They are going to emerge as the next big player in both econmics (like Japan did in the 80s) and military (like Russia did with nukes in the 50s...altough their economy sucked). Powerful combination. What are your thoughts?

I don't see much other than some kind of massive international disaster that will stop China becoming the no.1 economy pretty soon (inside the next 30 years).

America has to learn to accept that I think, well, not just America because a lot of other countries are scared of it too. America as the present 'big kid' seems to think it has the most to lose from this, which in some ways (mostly to do with irrational measures) it sort of does, but being second doesn't mean your economy starts shrinking. Being the 2nd biggest can mean you have the most to gain as well.

I think that a lot of Americans automatically percieve China as a threat. I think this reaction is stupid. I do not believe that China poses a threat to me or my way of life as much as America does right now, and I also think that once China is a huge player, the whole world could benefit from having another scientific, economic and military power, provided the US doesn't demonise it like they did with Soviet Russia during the cold war. Alot of Americans also like to think that China is morally inferior to the US. Again I think this is totally incorrect.

If we can be sensible little world powers and play nice, the biggest issues for the world are resources vs. population and pollution IMO. With any luck this will force us to expand into space at last.

International disaster?

How about a domestic one? You know like the massive gender imbalance that is about to come to pass for them.

It does seem that only China has stopped China becoming the world's dominant power through much of history. It would not surprise me to see them do it again.

That's just going to turn them all gay, which will in turn facilitate their dominance of the global interior decorating markets.

That's only the rural Chinese and they don't count as people.

Half my department was late because they closed down the freeway.

Was a good way to piss off half the city, by focking up an already screwed up commute.
