She says it's as damaged as a mogal skiers knees! and if i can't get it fixed and keep riding i'll need knee replacement by the time i'm 40!:dead: All this crap right after i get a coach and everything maybe i should just quit.:dead: :(

Damn man.......

You will need your knees later in life. Maybe competive quilting is better for you :D

Seriously I know guys that have had major knee problems and evenafter surgery it isn't the same.

Weigh your options.

The doc could fuse your knees then you would ride like me
 :D

Get a second opinion. Seriously, doctors are not god. My former family doctor has a degenerative hip disease (he's 40 and has had 2 hip replacements, both sides) and he rides a road bike.

In my experience, older doctors are most likely to tell you to give up the activity instead of getting fitted correctly or doing exercises to improve your joints.

Ya she sorta is that kinda doctor I have all sorts of papers to go to all kinds of specialists one of them is one of the top guys in Canada I think. My physio seems to think it's all fixable but when a doctor says something like that so seriuosly at you it makes you so depressed.

First off, DON'T PANIC.

I personally think the Canadian healthcare system is better than the American one (another debate though) but the one thing that is similar with both systems is that your primary care doctor is your gateway to the rest of the system.

Most people spend more time choosing between Coke and Pepsi than to do picking thier doctor. That is a huge mistake.

An anectdote (for what it is worth):

I was playing soccer and having trouble with my right knee. Bad case of ITB. I would get better, play 30 minutes of a game, and my knee would seize up. My doctor knew what was happening, but he wasn't sure why. He sent me to a good physiotherapist who took 10 minutes to diagnose my problem. I had an ankle injury the year before that I had never rehabed properly, and the reduced flexibility in my ankle was leading to the pain in my knee.

Go see the specialist, and go to physio, and if you trust the physiotherapist FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS THEY GAVE YOU, and you should be fine.

Think about how many people ride bikes. What are the chances that your are part of the population that is physically incapable of riding a bike without wrecking your joints?

Dude I've been going to a physio who I'd trust my life with and she's starting to seem not to convinced it's going to get fixed.
And it's not like this is exactly new I've had it for 3 weeks the first 2 weeks the pain was so bad i couldn't ride at all. After 5 minutes i wanted to scream. The pain has gone done to point but is just constantly hurting when i ride. I had a similar knew problem last winter which set me back alot for this season.
I keep having so many setbacks that i'm lucky that i was even able to keep my level of fitness I don't think i've improved at all this summer.

Try a different physio.

I was at the point where 30 mins of soccer every 4 weeks meant I couldn't walk properly for a week.

Don't give up so soon, you're young. 3 weeks is NOT that long. Think about how long people rehab from knee surgery.

True partly i'm just pissed cause the medical system is the worst in canada here in quebec. In BC you can have CT scans done when you need them here you get put on a 9 month waiting list. The reason i brought that up is cause when i was in BC this summer i broke and really messed my rist up an dthe doc there said to get a CT scan in 2 weeks after it happened you can't even have that done here.

Unless you felt something snap in your knee (and IF something snapped, it would be noticeable with a physical exam) I really doubt you need an MRI or CAT scan.

What did you break in your wrist? Scaphoid? That bone is a bitch to heal and might actually warrant a CT scan.

$1200.

The doctor was actually there for about 10 minutes total stitching me up. I think for that price I should have at least gotten a blowjob as well (she was cute) :)
