actually, if it's a small he won't have trouble hitting sub 40lbs. Jeremy's was less than 40lbs with a Manitou fork. Just look at Acadian's photo of it. You can see why.
He had Mavic tubeless on Michelin tires. Carbon FSA DH bar, Ti Romic spring, ti railed saddle, Thomson post and stem, SRAM x.7 group. That sucker was still right at 40 once he switched out the Manitou for a a 7inch 888.

I took a look at the build notes in excel and there are a few things I'd question but he's at like 38# on paper so I don't see it going over 40#.

Anyone know how much a set of Saint discs/XT levers/Goodridge Lines weighs? What about if I don't run pads?? :D

It should also be pointed out that I continously made my bike heavier throughout the year as I broke stuff. Added the 888, ditched the too lightly sprung ti Romic Spring, and added a Sun MTX rim instead of the Kansas Flatspot 823's. Even though it was a little heavier, it rode a lot better setup this way for me.
Ah, I can't wait to get back on a DH bike. :(
