Hi, I have an older - 2001 Manitou X-Vert air that I got for a steal - or so I thought -well I still do. I like the fork, but after a ride today it leaked out all of it's air.

I worry that this is a trend with these forks after reading some reviews on MTBR.com - is there anything I can do myself to try and fix it?

Or if I place a call to Manitou - will they service it if I go through a local bike shop? And if so, would it be worth it to do. I only paid $50 for the fork - and I'd hate for a repair of it to cost more than just buying a 2004 Manitou Black or something.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

If you pull the fork apart and clean it really well, it might fix it. Or, what is more likely, it might not fix it. If it doesn't, you need new seals and there's nothing you can do but replace them.

You can try downloading the tech guide on Manitou's website to see if replacing the seals is something you'd like to try and do yourself. Sending it back to Manitou might end up costing as much as another used fork out of the B&S forum.
