X-post from Nor-cal forum (cause there is nobody there):

"Gonna be heading to the Live Wire classic. I'm thinking of camping it instead of ponying up for the Holiday Inn or some thing."

"Anyone got the scoop on which campsites are prime (uncrowded, edit FREE, ect.)"

I don't need any amenities just a place to park my truck and pitch a tent. I know of plenty camping in Tahoe but I'm looking for something off the beaten path where I can have beer and a J in peace with some friends. (can be 4wd access)

I'm looking at the Tahoe monkeys here. Help me out!

Lots of places to camp. Just do a Google search. My bro/friends stayed at this campground off of 89. I also saw some campground off of 267 as well. You need to reserve these. I don't think anything is free at Tahoe.

I know there are plenty of campsites on the side of the highways. But there is free camping to be had in Tahoe, it's in the woods (even if I have to drive my ass down some fire road or something).

I'm not looking for anything fancy here!
