It looks like they do not kid around with the Hucks for that race. Wish i could make it. I love a good Huck
I'm looking forward to seeing boice, Schusler, kane, gwinny, Cody Warren, or half a dozen pros I haven't even thought of, keep it low and fast off something that big. With what's uphill they should be flying by the time they hit the first of the big jumps. going to be really fun to watch

that last jump in the video is HUGE
There are at least 2-3 14 and under jrs that hit it routinely( I would have included video of my 12 yr old, but the quality was crappy). The Sol Vista crew designs great stuff, but it is big. Threw in a pic of the little guy at the 4X at Angelfire, two of the 14 and unders cleared all 3 of the big doubles at the bottom, quick way to age a father:thumb:

I watched Matt hit that last weekend. He is far braver and faster then I.
He was defective from the factory, they forgot to install a fear gene. Scary when I had to come to grips that I'd never hit some of the stuff that he was hitting, and he was 11. Still, it's a testament to the way this stuff is built that 80 pounders can find the speed to hit this stuff safely:thumb:

I'm looking for a ride from the Denver Aiport Wednesday and back Sunday. Does anyone have any room? I'll have my camera backpack, another bag, bike/box and has money.

Stoked to the point of frenzy! Amazing what some media coverage and dedicated group of organizers and trail builders can do for an event that has in the past failed to generate any excitment for me. You guys rock! Keep it up!

The US Open attracts foreign talent, but Nationals is a closed event. Citizens only (and permanent residents).

Who will be the next American Downhill Champion? Let the discussion begin.

can't wait to get up there. it's been raining a bit apparently, so traction is staying pretty dialed. it really depends on what happens Saturday with moisture, but the beginning of the week will be really freaking fun!

Go Gerrit!

Sorry if this has been answered somewhere but will there be live coverage of the event?

Just in case you need this, you can take a bus from DIA to a train station, and the train up here through the Rocky Mountains. A guy did that a couple weeks ago, he was from the east coast and said it was fairly painless and it was a good trip. I'm sure with a little research you can find the route, then get a ride from the train station here in Granby to the mountain (5 minutes)

"So here's some more info from the race director as of Monday, July 13. 'The amateur DH course will be Drifter to Buck Nasty to Cougar. It has several jumps ranging from 15 to 30 feet.' "

That is a fun course, but I was hoping for some new combo since its from the G3 last year.

Looks like I'm going to have to man-up and hit those Buck Nasty gaps now. I'm staying the fudge away from Lip Skidder though.

For those out of town folks, don't let it fool you from the lift. It looks small because its low profile, but its 40 feet (real feet-no joke) and you'll be hitting it at 35+ mph to clear it so if you come up short you're going to be in trouble.

*Its not the last jump in the video posted (that one is on Drifter), its on the Cougar trail and will be on our race course.

I always thought lip skidder was part of Cougar. Buc comes out of the trees and meets up with Cougar after the Edgar drop/stepdown thingy, but before da skidder. Negro is in the trees and I assume part of the course.

Does buc nasty lead into lip skidder? I thought it led into Negrodamus.
Buc Nasty connects upper Drifter (just before the sandy right hander that leads to the double/triple option) with lower Cougar (just below Edgar) and leads into Lip Skidder.

Yes. See above, Negro is on lower Drifter and won't be in this configuration of trails.

Yeah this combo of trails has been raced before, once at the SolVista G3 event last year. But of all the trails and trail combos, it has the most of what the mountain has to offer: decent tech stuff, great turns, sweet rocky sections, high speed pinball straits, big jumps, and plenty of classic sandy SolVista charm. All of the big features have good route-arounds that are still fun, yet do penalize you for time so stepping up your game rewards you. I dig it. :thumb:

So the track will be upper drifter, to where the triple option is, then on to Buc Nasty...which connects with Cougar below Edgar?

I'm jealous of the course and all of the buzz about it on here. We have the UK national champs also this weekend, but no-one's talking about it on the forums. US champs always seems to strike a real buzz on here, wish I was going to be part of it!

Enjoy!
