Anyone know a finishing place that does black chrome or black oxide? (preferably northern CA?)

My old touring snare - solid high-carbon steel 4.5mm shell. Needs some TLC. New hoops, heads and tension rods will be on order, but the finish needs to be re-brushed and blackened.

If your trying to do this on the cheap you can go to a place that sells gun supplies and buy "gun blueing" It will give a decent looking rust preventative for less than $10
Just an idea.

In the bathroom, fighting a battle
The eastwood company sells a black oxide kit that may work, uless it has too small of a dip tank. You're other option is to find a muscel-car resto shop as most muscel cars have black oxide bits under the hood. They should be able to point you in the right direction.
