okay guys im am going to purchase a set of mavic 721's and want to put a set of aircorpe 36 hole hubs on the set. so i was wondering what you guys thought of these hubs and if they will hold up to the rigourse of race day. i am running a 20mm threw axel up front and 12mm threw axel in the back. thanks for all your help.

Avoid Atomlab parts. I've had a pair of Aircorp pedals explode on me and a rear Aircorp hub completely seize, and the pedals and hub were both less than a year old. On top of poor durability, Atomlab also has terrible customer service, and it took almost 6 months to get my pedals and hub replaced under warranty. Don't buy Atomlab. I'd suggest Ringle hubs.

I agree with Dexter I haven't heard much good about them..but I myself have never owned any of their products...mainly because of what I have heard/seen...D

There are too many better choices for hubs out there than Atomic Lab's especially in 12mm TA rear and 20mm front.

Assuming this is all 135mm rear spacing. You could go for Hope, Hadley, Ringle, Onyx (DT Swiss) etc...all in the right 12mm TA axle. If you're on a budget but still want decent quality the Hope and Ringle's would be a good choice. If money ain't an issue, use the Hadley.

Same goes for the front. Same brands apply except King makes a 20mm front hub that's sweet. Also the Marzocchi 20mm hubs aren't bad for the price.

If you have a 150mm or 160mm rear end you better start your looking now for a rear hub. Hadley and maybe DT are they only companies I think making odd spaced hubs. They're expensive as well :(

Good luck, let everyone know what you end up with.

I wonder if Atom Labs has cleaned up their act in regards to customer service?

Last I knew, people were sitting there with broken parts and several calls into the guy, with little or no response and certainly no replacements.

I'd avoid Atom Labs entirely unless there's some evidence that they've gotten their act together.

I don't know about their rear hubs but last season I was running Atomlab DHR rims on an Atomlab 20mm hub (rear hub was from a Nicolai frame which I think is Hadley). Anyways, the 20mm works fine...I don't think we see many 20mm hubs exploding. Zedro from this board has been running the same Formula 20mm hub now for 2 or 3 seasons.

Ringle does make them in a 36 hole setup. Look harder. ;)
I have been using these hubs for years, and I have never had a reason to run anything else. If you do ever have to replace the pawls on the rear hub, it is about as hard as lubing your chain.

Sweet. Seismic, you have 888 posts. Now never post again. Sorry...

Oh yeah, unless you want to do a custom job and drill out the axle, Chris King doesn't make a 12mm TA rear hub.

go with the abba hubs, mine are still going strong and they have been through several frames and are 36 hole. they are also very race proven.

as for atomlab all i have heard is not so good stuff about their hubs/parts/customer service. like many new hip companies on the market people bought their stuff a lot but ya dont see em running it anymore 2 years later. Allan used to work for sun/ringle he can get ys the hookup probably.

ohh and i red some reviews on the 721's from mavic and they dont sound like there very strong at all does anyone have any experiance with them at all that can tell me if they will hold up to some extensive hard riding and some races.

I've had nothing but good luck with Mavic rims, especially the 721s (on my hardtail) and 729s (on my dh bike). The 721s have held up perfectly and also build up very nicely. I'm a big fan of the grey ceramic finish too. :thumb:
