I found some foam on ebay for foam pits, and the auction is for 1000 little squares that are 6 inches by 6 inches. I want my foam pit to be at least 7 feet by 12, will it fill it? or what will the calculations be?

if all of the blocks were stacked perfectly together, it would fill a pit that size 30 inches deep, but since they won't be stackes perfectly, i'd estimate they'd fill a pit four feet deep

If you stacked all 1000 of them into your 7x12 foot pit, it would only be a measly 1.5 feet deep...

You'd need about 3000 to get one that was 4.5 feet deep, which should be adequate to keep your head from getting bashed too hard

Have one of the engineers here model you the space with all the blocks rotated randomly. With all the free time they seem to have im sure they can print you out 15 different arrangments with all the proper calcs needed to feel safe.......

Make sure to make it pretty deep. I've jumped into some that I thought were good enough, but if you go in feet, or heaven forbid, head first you can get through the foam to the bottom pretty easily. Not fun.

I don't think anyone should be jumping into a foam pit made by some dude who can't multiply, and doesn't understand the concept of volume.
