I have an 03 dj1 with the air preload caps. I was wondering if I can cause any problems by running a bit of negative air preload. To do this I am just compressing the fork as far as i can and letting air out of the caps, so its not a significant amount.

Not to mention you lose travel but if you are compressing your fork and then releasing air you essentiually are just gettin rid of the air in them, they already dont use a high volume of air as it is because its a air assist. A option would be to either play with your oil levels or spring rates. I dont have a set infront of me but i can tell you i wouldnt compress them and then let air out with them compressed.

i tried this but it didn't work very well/felt horrible. instead we just pulled one of the springs out of one leg and then put a few psi in that leg instead of a spring
worked really well and very plush for me (5'2" girl)
