Ok, I'm a computer retard, but I have a router for my Cable modem. I'm looking to buy a new ethernet cable cheap on ebay, theres a few times, raw, patch and crossover? which kind do i want if im connecting it frmo my router to my labtop?

Yes I'm sure. Crossover cables have a very specific purpose - linking 2 NICs without the use of a hub or switch. Other than that, use patch. Cat5e is bw compatible.

quadricolour is right on, and just FYI, "raw" cable is ethernet cable without the connectors on the ends. Requires a crimper tool and a couple connectors to make one.

How long does the cable need to be? If your in the US PM me an address and I'll put you one in the mail.

The others are correct, you will need a straight patch cable. Crossover cables will work for connecting two NICs and some hubs or switches require crossover between them.

Just saw the one you bought on ebay, that should work fine.
