The University of Nevada Cycling Team Presents:

Sky Tavern Classic Downhill 2006
Nevada State Downhill one-day Championship
NORBA Nationals qualifier for 2007
August 19th, 2006.
Course Description: Technical, rocky course with a couple of steep sections. We plan on using the same course as in years past, but with the changes that are in store for the mountain, this is subject to change.
Directions: From Reno go south on U.S. 395 to the Junction of S.R.431/ Mt. Rose Highway and head west. Follow the highway approx. 10 miles to the Sky Tavern Ski area on the right hand side of the road, 3 miles before Mt. Rose Ski area. Park in designated areas. No camping permitted.

Registration opens at 7am at Sky Tavern and closes at 11:45 for the women and 2:00 for the men. Racing starts at noon. Race day registration only. Fee is 30$ per rider. Helmets mandatory, no exceptions. All N.O.R.B.A. Rules apply. N.O.R.B.A. licence required, licences available at registration. DH start times are approximate. Times will be given at registration and will follow the order stated above. DH practice will be open in the morning.

Tech DH with a few little wide open areas . Kinda reminds me of old school Squaw Valley world Cup but not as gnarly. 6" of travel is more than enough for it.

You can get to the top from Mt. Rose Hwy. Go to just below the entrance to Mt. Rose Ski Area, it will be a gate/chain off the side of the road on the right. Go up the hill, down the gully, then up towards the ski lift. Basically keep to the right the entire way.

and just leave another car here?:

sorry for all of the questions. don't want to drive out there tonight if i can't figure out where to park and ride.

Its a much better ride if you run two cars, and one shuttle bitch...

Then you can go ride Karpellis too...

Yeah, the course was a ton of fun. Nice length too.

I heard Sky Tavern may be open next summer for MTB? Anyone care to expand on this? Race series?

Ohhhh Man that race was fun .anyway Sky Tavern is pretty much open all the time just remember to respect the neighbors and no trash (give a hoot don't pollute) we will be talking to the city of Reno regarding the entire mountian as soo as I get ahold of someone who knows...Hope everyone enjoyed themselves.
